Sermon Notes

THE SIGNS ARE BIGGER MATTHEW 21:1-11, MATTHEW 24
Matthew 21:1-11
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,
2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 "Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.
8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?"
11 The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee."

The week before the Resurrection, Jesus came to Jerusalem riding on a donkey.
Christ knew the plan and stuck to it perfectly.
He worked diligently to get his disciples to understand all that would take place.
They understood, only afterwards.
How will the next coming of Christ be?
The time of the rapture of the Church will be chaotic beyond description.
No one will be able to dispute it.
Matthew 24:30
"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.

Luke 21:27
At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

There will be a rapture of the church, the believers. At some point after that the last few chapters of Revelation will come to pass and the 1000 year millennial reign of Christ upon the earth will begin.
In Matthew 24 Jesus starts hanging out billboards for us to read.
BILLBOARD 1: VS 6-8 THE BEGINNING SIGNS.
Wars and rumors of war have been standard fare for America and most of the world.
Over the last year there have been in excess of 50K earthquakes / tremors.
How about the many droughts in Africa particularly Ethiopia?
Tsunami’s caused by undersea earthquakes are regular occurrences.
BILLBOARD 2: VS 9-13 THE SPIRITUAL SIGNS
More Christians die every year now than any year before.
Most are killed by Muslims. Some are killed selectively by governments.
Right now in many nations Christians are behind bars for simply being Christians.
The previous president refused to meet with the wife of Pastor Saeed Abedini over his detention.
Because of the (un) Affordable Care Act the taxes of all persons in full time ministry have gone up by the price of their insurance.
Only in the last year have the courts began to turn over verdicts against believers who would not pay for abortion drugs.
The mayor of Houston thought she could sensor the preaching messages of the pastors in her city.
People are turning away from the church as never before.
Atheists across America have started their own non-god churches.
Apathy is rampant.
BILLBOARD 3: VS 14 THE GOSPEL AROUND THE WORLD
The gospel is being preached all over the globe. It is being translated into languages as fast as people can work.
It is just a matter of time until every person on the planet will have the ability to hear the gospel in their native tongue.
Good Christians all across the world are sneaking the gospel into atheist run countries in their cell phones.
Digital Bible smuggling works!
BILLBOARD 4: VS 15-21. MIDDLE EAST STRESS
Colonialism on the part of the world powers has sliced and diced the middle-east to pieces.
Pay particular attention to Israel and specifically Jerusalem.
As goes Israel so goes the world. Many of our national leaders have long since turned their backs on Israel.
The current President knows enough to be the friend of Israel.
Conflict with Iran and her allies is inevitable.
It is Palm Sunday: The day we remember Jesus coming into Jerusalem on his way to bring us salvation.
The signs were there and the disciples blew right past them.
We need to let this day remind us that the coming of the Lord is indeed close. The signs are bigger.
THE BEGINNING SIGNS ARE OBVIOUS.
THE SPIRITUAL SIGNS ARE OBVIOUS.
THE GOSPEL AROUND THE WORLD IS HAPPENING AND NEARLY COMPLETE.
MIDDLE EAST STRESS IS INCREASING AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.
DON’T MISS THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES.
